Collapse ▲Under the leadership of Robyn Stout, the NC 10% Campaign has expanded its programmatic efforts into the targeted area of institutions of higher education, specifically six publicly funded Historically Black or American Indian Institutions that are part of the University of North Carolina School System.
The Local Food Ambassador (LFA) program creates teams of support for the student ambassadors that includes nearby cooperative extension agents as key members both facilitating meetings and advising the LFA teams. LFAs come away with direct campaign experience, new food system professional networks, experience with cooperative extension, and a toolbox of relevant non-profit, food movement and grassroots organizing skills. According to one student, My experience as an LFA was really invaluable in the sense that it pushed me in directions that I don’t think I would have pushed myself.
